Wow, the US Elections have come down to the fight for Florida. As of just now, CNN reports a margin of 327 votes.

I decided to do a little math, and figure out what that means.

All told, the 2000 Elections gathered about 100,683,409 votes (not counting the absentee ballots, many of which have not arrived).

If you take that number and compare it to the distance to the moon, the number of votes that are currently seperating Gore and Bush would equal 1 inch.

If you compared that amount to the total area of the USA (9,629,091 sq km), the number of votes that are currently seperating Gore and Bush would be 9 square meters. That's about the size of a parking spot.

If you compared it to a kilogram of cheese, the number of votes that are currently seperating Gore and Bush would equal .03 micrograms (invisible to the human eye).

Okay, I made most of those numbers up...but they're close!
