My infrequent updates on the web

iPhone in Canada? Other Apple Goodness?

I am becoming less and less excited with each new show/keynote that comes along. I have all the Mac stuff I need and the iPhone only really interests me in regards to Canadian availability. I carry a Blackberry for work and I am simply uninterested in carrying two devices around.
However, I still look [...]

Apple Store Lineup Video

I went to the Apple Store opening in Pacific Centre this past weekend. The store is typical of a mall-entrance version, similar to the Las Vegas Fashion Show that I visited last month.
By the time I arrived, there was only a small line of perhaps 50 people. I expected there had been [...]

The Lander Attempts to Land

Today is a pretty big day for NASA and the Phoenix Mars Lander. In about 1 hour, the Lander will attempt to touch down safely on the planet’s surface. This is not an easy feat, with previous landers having a success rate of about 50%, with at least one crashing on the surface [...]

Apple Store, Stanley Cup Playoffs and Filming Finn

This weekend is starting off great.
The sun is shining on our fair city and I’m sitting outside as I wait for my appointment at the Genius bar (my MacBook Pro has a minor button issue) in the brand new Apple Store, the first in Western Canada.
Later, I’ll be filming Finnegan, my Duck Toller, for a [...]

Updates

I need to update this site a lot more than I do. Seriously.
Here are some stats:

12: The number of drafts that are in my WordPress queue. I am having a tough time editing them for publication
7: The number of days per week I have more than 4 hours of my time scheduled
5: The number [...]

Boot Camp Cracked Me

It took less than two weeks but Boot Camp cracked me.  Specifically, it cracked my foot.  Even more specifically, it cracked the 5th metatarsal in my left foot.
A quick visit to the clinic and the doctor suggested the likely problem is a stress fracture , so he sent me off for x-rays.  Until next week [...]

CLI Theme

I found a fantastic theme for WordPress called CLI, named for the computing term “Command Line Interface”. It brings back memories of my first computers, way back in about 1980 or so, long before any windowing applications were available (or at least being commonly used).
You can find CLI at the author’s site or at [...]

Back to the Future

While waiting around for my Guitar Hero III to arrive (it’s only minutes away right now…) I was flipping the channels and found Back to the Future.
Watching it for the 29th time or so, I still find it entertaining and well-written, laden with pop culture tie-ins from the 50’s and 80’s.
Robert Zemeckis does a great [...]

Hi there

This is a post from my site

Simpsonized

A few moments in PhotoBooth, some customization with the Simpsonize tool and I am an honorary resident of Springfield.
Here is a slightly larger portrait.
